Within our small community, there have also been a number of events during the past reporting period. We
celebrated the upsherin of Ari Cohen. Harry Gans passed away. We welcomed Nathan as a new member.
We also celebrated the birth of Yitschak Cohen, his brith milla, and the chupah of
Devori and Yudi in Israel.
Activity report
• Weekly meals on Erev Shabbat at the rabbi and rebbetzin’s home for students and
members who are shomer Shabbat.
• We were able to hold our weekly Shabbat services throughout the year. Even when
the rabbi was unable to attend, the services were taken over by Avi Ben
Shabbat.
• Prior to the weekly service, there is a class for adults.
• After the weekly service, the rebbetzin gives a class (Tanya) for the women.
• All yamiem toviem: Tu Bishvat, Purim, Passover, Lag BaOmer, Shavuot, High
Holidays (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur), Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah, and
Hanukkah. In addition to these days, all fast days and special holidays are also observed.
• The Jewish women’s association organizes an activity about four times a year under the leadership
of the rebbetzin.
• Pastoral work. During the reporting year, we had several sick members, whom the rabbi
visited regularly and supported.
• Last year, we decided to hire a chazzan for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
• From August 1 to August 5, there was another “Maastricht Day Camp” with
all kinds of activities for the children. As usual, it was fantastically organized.

• On Erev Shabbat, September 9, we had a Shabbaton in honor of the birthday of
Avraham Cohen.
• The newsletter was published three times last year.
• After Sukkot, we had a party in the synagogue with the Jewish
community from Antwerp.
• We celebrated Hanukkah with a large group of guests from Mönchen-Gladbach at
the Crown Plaza Hotel in Maastricht.
• Purim was celebrated extensively with the theme “Purim in the Galaxy.”
• Passover was celebrated with the first Seder at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Maastricht. Approximately
50 people were present. The second Seder was celebrated at the rabbi’s home.
• There was an extensive barbecue for Lag Ba’Omer. Avi Ben Shabbat was the
master chef who grilled the meat.
